Initiative for Texas Information Bulletin #2

Two referendums are circulating in Houston for this
November 2001 ballot.  These referendums are:

1)  A CITY OF HOUSTON CHARTER AMENDMENT
TO REQUIRE VOTER APPROVAL BEFORE THE CITY
CAN INCREASE TOTAL REVENUES (including property
taxes, water and sewer charges) MORE THAN THE
COMBINED RATES OF INCREASE OF INFLATION
AND POPULATION

2)  A CHARTER AMENDMENT TO REQUIRE
A VOTE ON THE PRESENT LIGHT RAIL PROJECT
AND FUTURE RAIL PROJECTS

Only residents of the city of Houston may sign. 
20,000 signatures are needed to get the measures
on the ballot.
