- Make sure your name, address, phone and email are in our database.
- Print this page as a to-do list.
- If you are not sure who your state legislators are, Who Represents Me? on our web site will tell you who they are.
- Write a short hand-written note to your state representative, telling her/him that you are a Texan who wants initiative rights. Ask her/him if they will support it. Whether they are for, against, or have no opinion, refer them to this web site. Write a second handwritten note to your state senator.
- After you have received a written response, regardless of what they write, call each of your legislators and tell them you want them to support Initiative rights for Texans.
- Tell your legislator how helpful his/her support would be. Ask the legislator for a letter stating his/her support for Initiative.
- Please send us copies of any pledges or letters you receive.
- If you find a legislator committed to opposing Initiative, please inform us.
- Write to Governor Rick Perry to support Initiative.
- Write to Lt. Governor David Dewhurst to support Initiative.
- Write to Speaker of the House Tom Craddick to support Initiative.
- Write to Land Commission Jerry Patterson to support Initiative.
- Write to Comptroller Susan Combs to support Initiative.
- Write to Agriculture Secretary Todd Staples to support Initiative.
- We have a speakers bureau of informed persons around Texas willing to speak on Initiative. Let us know if your organization wants a speaker. Should you want to do the speaking yourself, we can help with speech outlines, etc.
- Persuade at least one friend to also take the actions on this list.
